Hi all,

Please excuse the rocky start of this new list.  I had Mailman "weapons 
of mass subscription" set to Invite and most of you replied positively.

But after I corrected the error in our mail transfer agent relay 
settings that prevented many from subscribing, I sent out a second 
invitation which accidentally was set to Subscribe instead of Invite.

My sincere apologies (especially to Darrel Austin, who counselled "opt 
in" even though I know most of you and correspond from my personal email 
database and you are all active cms-list members).

I will immediately unsubscribe anyone unhappy with this.  Life continues 
to be a learning experience for me, always fun, but sometimes embarassing.

We have some very good news to report. Our cms-list list-mom, Phil Suh, 
announced today that he is about to get the main list server back on line. 

His status report at http://www.cms-list.org now says...

     Friday, 7:25am, January 21, 2004

     Server upgrade and rebuild has been completed. Currently working on 
reconfiguring the mail server and the mailing list software.

     The cms-list will be available again on Monday, January 23rd, 9am PST.

     Thanks for your patience.

Between now and Monday, feel free to use this list for general 
communications, but be aware it only reaches a small subset (about 400) 
of the main cms-list.
