As with Chris' post a few moments ago, I would suggest you look at these
TWO, somewhat different "CMS" apps. (I use quotes because one is not
exactly pure CMS)
MamboServer http://www.mamboserver.com/
Geeklog http://geeklog.net/
Mambo is pure beauty in motion, and is truly the easiest to set up and
manage OpenSource CMS I've ever seen. Its focus is heavy on the cms side of
things, and a very very clean design with nice skins.
Good security, good feature set within the context of CMS.
Geeklog is also OpenSource but started out more as webblogging tool, and has
blossomed into a multi-featured, very flexible app with light CMS and lots
of other "plug-ins".
Geeklog's overall interface and admin functions are not quite as well
DESIGNED as Mambo's, and the CMS is weaker, but the overall offering is very
community oriented. Its many PLUG-INS are truly a feast for community-eyes,
mostly focusing on polling, rss, commenting, forums, calendaring, etc. etc.
While GL is not quite as mature as Mambo, its community seems more active
IMHO, and the plethora of plug-ins and active developers make it an
interesting look-see for you, specifically since you are an NPO and might be
able to deal with its rougher edges.
The back-end is fairly tight, and not super complex to understand, although
it's not as simple as Mambo.
: Workflow and Security
GL very good, more powerful (groups and subgroups, good security context)
Mambo good, easier
: In addition to the basics, we want a system with a

Use WebCalendar. We are actually working on a Geeklog plugin using
Webcalendar.

: As a want, we would like a project that either

Good luck!
