While it may sound hollow coming from me... I agree...

The point of this list is to provide a forum for discussions and not product
marketing...

It does get a bit into the grey area when someone asks for product
recommendations, we vendors would love to be able to explain how our product
meets the needs that someone is asking for but clearly that is self serving.
I believe the rule should be simple: If you have a financial interest in or
stand to benefit financialy from the posting then don't.

We also need to agree on signature lines... These are generally acceptable
on most lists but can also get out of hand.
